About Aqwa - D

Aqwa-D was started in NZ by the original owners Chris Murty and Steve Newsome. Since moving back to NZ in May of 2020, Steve has decided to start the NZ branch here in Auckland.

All of the items in our range we have taken from our everyday lives and the inspiration for these items is need and necessity. Paddlers have said things like “wouldn’t be great if we had” and our imagination took over and with some creativity we have made many of these items a reality. We are constantly innovating and taking tried and tested and making our own spin on these as well.

We actively work with long time supplier friends like Vaikobi (Steve was actually the first customer in the world for Vaikobi – ask Pat Langley) and will eagerly bring new items and innovations to the paddling community. Steve has been a waka ama paddler for over 17 years and has raced ski and kayak for over 12 years. He has also paddled K1 but prefers to not talk about that. Aqwa-D is focused upon supporting the accessory needs of the social paddler through to the adventure racer and competitor. All of our range is tested by actual paddlers from all levels and we focus upon simple design but with function and keeping costs low as well. We are looking at this in mind when we will be offering payment options to paddlers as we understand that it is hard to always have it all at once. This year 2021 will see the launch of some great new items in what has been a difficult one for all but we aren’t going to let that stop us!

Why Choose Us?

Aqwa-D has always been about innovating and designing practical products for paddlers.  After all we are paddlers ourselves across nearly all sports!  The products are often bespoke but others can be shared across multiple watersports.  We recently teamed up with Allwave and that decision was purely because they embrace our own methods of great quality products built for all paddlers with great prices too.
